Project Introduction

Portraits made in the hour before the day begins.
A portrait series for Aurel, photographed at first light in the sitters’ own homes. No sets, no crew larger than three, and no more than an hour with each person.
The Brief

Find the person before the performance.
The brief asked for portraits that felt unguarded. We worked slowly, with natural light and long pauses, and kept the frames where nothing was happening.
